Dennis Graham, Drake’s father, is of African-American Ethnicity and worked as a drummer in the team of famous musician Jerry Lee Lewis. DRake’s mother, Sandra Graham, is of Canadian Ethnicity and worked as an English teacher and florist during Drake’s childhood. Drake has been interested and enthusiastic about music since an early age as his father also works in the same field. Drake’s parents divorced when he was only five years old due to personal issues. Drake stayed with his mother after the divorce and spent most of his childhood in Toronto. Drake’s father was later jailed for several drug charges against him.

Drake was robbed at gunpoint on May 31 2009, in Toronto’s Little Italy district and was forced to give a gold and diamond necklace, $2,000 and an Audemars Piguet watch. Soccer ties Cotterell and Paul Lelutiu were initially suspected and charged with armed robbery. All accusations were later dropped, except conspiracy to commit armed robbery, to which the men were found guilty. They were sentenced to just over six months in jail before they were exculpated.
