Todd Anthony Shaw who is popularly known by the stage name Too Short is an American record producer and rapper. . He had his first break in the music industry in the late 1980s when he got famous in the West Coast hip hop scene where lyrics of his songs often pointed out on pimping and drug culture and street survival indicated in his most popular songs “The Ghetto” and “Blow the Whistle” .

Todd Anthony Shaw famously known his stage name ‘ Too Short’ was born on 28th April 1966 and his is currently 56 years old (as of 2022). Too Short was born on Los Angeles, California and had spent his childhood mostly in Oakland, California as his family moved there. Short has always showed interest in music since his childhood days as he played as drummer in the high school band at Fremont High School in Oakland.
During the mid 1980’s, Shaw along with his high school friend Freddy B produced custom songs which were then called as ‘Special requests’ on cassette for local people in Oakland and the Bay Area. In 1985, Too Short decided to start his solo career and released his debut music album called Don’t Stop Rappin’ on Oakland record label 75 Girls Records And Tapes.
The album was released along with four 12″ releases and the album was featured raw and it consisted of simple drum beats from the LinnDrum drum machine. This was also one of the first hip hop records in history to use the word “bitch” . The abum became so famous the word ‘Bitch’ has later become of the trademarks of Too Short and was the highlight of subsequent raps such as “Ain’t Nothin’ but a Word to Me”.

Too Short’s music single Blow the Whistle (2006) where Too Short took the advantage of the new hyphy rap music that was coming in fame out of his original home base in Oakland. This saw somewhat of a revival for Too Short as it peaked at No. 14 on the Billboard 200 which gave him a boost in his career as the album has much better reach than each of his previous three releases.
However It was only short lived as his follow up releases have not been as successful which were Get Off The Stage in 2007. Too Short was honored by VH1 at the fifth annual “Hip-Hop Honors” on October 7 ,2008 along with Cypress Hill, De La Soul, Slick Rick and Naughty By Nature.
